PADI Europe, Middle East and Africa Expands its International Presence

After a huge success exhibiting for the first time at Dive Middle East Expo (DMEX), in March 2014, PADI EMEA is now in talks with the Show Organiser on an expanded and enhanced presence at DMEX 2015. It’s all looking very exciting for the 2015 Show, during which PADI’s goals will be new diver acquisition and Member support.

PADI Member Photos Wanted for The Undersea Journal

PADI Americas CDTC 2013Do you have a great photo of yourself and/or other PADI Members you’d like to see in The Undersea Journal? Email the photo to journal at padi dot com with the following information:

  • Names of everyone in the photo
  • Photographer name
  • Location where the photo was taken
  • Dive center name (if applicable)
  • A very short description of the photo and its importance.

Send your email to [email protected] with the subject line Undersea Journal Family Additions. You can also send the image as a private message to the PADI Pros Facebook page. Please also include the details listed above (names, location, etc).

Important:
We’re looking for photos of specific events: an Instructor Exam (IE) group shot, Project AWARE Dive Against Debris, or other special occasion. Please do not send images of marine life, club dives, people studying, or dive classes (unless the class has a special significance). View examples(PDF).

Photos should be minimum 2MB in size to ensure they will be print quality. Don’t forget to include the names of everyone in the photo and where the photo was taken.

Sharks International Symposium 2014

During the first week of June, Ania Budziak, Project AWARE Science and Policy Associate Director was at the International Shark Conference in Durban, South Africa where leading shark experts from around the world gathered to share current trends, identify gaps in shark and ray research and conservation, and discuss what’s in store for sharks in the future. The conference was followed by the IUCN Manta & Devil Ray Global Conservation Strategy Workshop: a review of the global conservation status of all species of manta and devil rays with the aim to develop detailed conservation actions required to conserve these species worldwide.
